Step by Step, a project of original material by Rochester musician Mary Lieser, is now available. Step by Step is a collaboration with Gregory Cauthen, a producer/musician in Los Angeles who has previously worked with MC Hammer, Troup, and Aaron Hall and was once a member of West Side in Minneapolis. The CD contains 14 songs written by Mary and Greg and one remake of the R&B hit “Tonight Is the Night” originally performed by Betty Wright. The compilation is an eclectic mix of several styles of music including funk, R&B, pop, rock and country.
Joining Mary on the CD is Craig “Screamer” Powell, a popular guitarist from Minneapolis who was a former member of Mazarati, a band formed by Prince, and is the current guitarist for West Side. The CD also includes a performance by rap artist Edwinn “Ears” Pinn.
Mary Lieser is a part-time musician in Rochester, MN where she is lead singer of the band Incognito. She also works as a software development manager and aerobics instructor. This is her first foray into creating a compilation of original material.
